LR Baggs Feedback Master Preamp

LR Baggs Feedback Master Preamp Review

Simple to use, clean-sounding device. Baggs's
use of efficient circuit design delivers a clear,
transparent sound. This preamp doesn't color the
sound much.

The screws that attach the belt-clip to the outside
of the case are very short and apt to work lose.
They also, on my unit, caused the device to buzz
because they touched the metal on the inside. Some
kind of grounding problem I guess. My unit may
be defective but I never returned it to Baggs of
called them to ask about it. Instead, I just
removed the screws and have used the unit parked
on a table or on an amp... a lousy solution
admittedly, but at the time I was using this a
lot I was performing on a weekly basis and didn't
want to go without the unit while I returned it
to Baggs. I was pessimistic about the belt-clip
screw buzzing being a fixable issue at the time.

SO - it sounds great. It notch-filters feedback
admirably, but seems to have this design flaw that
made it inconvenient for me to use, even though
I put up with it for a few years.

Don't put up with feedback from your acoustic guitar - and don't let bad EQ kill your tone! Play louder and sound better with the Feedback Master. With TWO unique, surgically narrow fixed depth sweepable filters, the Feedback Master has everything you need to easily control feedback without ruining your sound. The circuitry is 100% analog, pure class A and all discrete for pure sweet sound. The Feedback Master will work with virtually any pickup, active OR passive. These chips are versatile and easy to design with, but the drawback of that versatility is that this circuitry usually includes many extra parts that aren't needed in every application. These extra parts can cloud the sound and add noise. Contrarily, a discrete circuit has o

LR Baggs Violin Pickup

LR Baggs Violin Pickup Review

This thing is fantastic. It is way better than your run-of-the-mill pickup; for one thing it can't fall out of the bridge like most do occasionally, it doesn't mute the sound, and I never get any feedback. I originally intended to put this bridge on my nice violin (for classical) and have it be an all-purpose instrument; however, my luthier advised against this, saying the thicker bridge slightly changes the tone of your violin. I therefore opted to get a cheaper "show" violin to install it on to use with my band. Once electrified, you can't really tell the difference anyway. I use it with the L.R. Baggs Acoustic DI, and couldn't be happier!

LR Baggs Violin Pickup Feature

  • Features a miniature vibration transducer cast right into the Aubert no.7 Mirecourt maple bridge for maximum sensitivity
  • Will not affect the tone of your favorite violin
  • As an integral part of the bridge, it effortlessly captures the instrument's inherent dynamics
  • The top choice of more top pros including Alison Krauss, Michael Doucet, Darol Anger, and Jean-Luc Ponty, than any other pickup
The LR Baggs Violin Pickup features a miniature vibration transducer cast right into the bridge. The transducer is designed to accept the tone-rich left/right movement of the bridge, reject feedback, eliminate scratchy nasal sounds, and trace the natural sound of the instrument. The LR Baggs Violin Pickup has set the standard since its inception over a decade ago, and it is the top choice of more top pros including Alison Krauss, Michael Doucet, Darol Anger, and Jean-Luc Ponty, than any other pickup. The pickup is a miniature vibration transducer cast directly into an Aubert no.7 Mirecourt maple bridge for maximum sensitivity and signal transfer. As an integral part of the bridge, it effortlessly captures the instrument's inherent dynamics. Furthermore, it's selective admittance pattern is aligned so that the signal is generated as the bridge moves in a left-right motion (in response to the string vibrations). The transducer also rejects any impulse directed to the plane of the bridge, minimizing annoying finger squeaks, body noise and feedback. The L.R. Baggs Violin Pickup also features unprecedentedly consistent performance, and will not affect the tone of your favorite violin. Each pickup is quality tested and carries a one year warranty.

LR Baggs Mandolin Pickup with external Jack Mount

LR Baggs Mandolin Pickup with external Jack Mount Review

I've used the LR Baggs Radius Mandolin pickup at numerous gigs, and venues and am very happy with the results. Comparing the Radius pickup to previous pickups and mics, the unit is very sensitive, picking up not only the slightest of pick movements and sounds, but the wood tones as well. The overall result is amplified mandolin music which sounds full on acoustic with no exaggerated, tiny highs, or hollow bottom tones. I've received lost of positive comments from other musicians and patrons after they've heard this in action. At Amazon's price, this pickup is an exceptional value.

great pickup!!! - M. Dowd - Philadelphia,PA
This pickup sounds great! I put it on my old Army/Navy Gibson, and it sounds like it should. I placed it in a handful of different spots until I found my mandolin's "sweet spot"(close to where L.R Baggs said), and with a little bit of tweaking on my acoustic amp's EQ , it sounded very good.

Easy to install. So far so good:)
