LR Baggs Para Acoustic D.I.

LR Baggs Para Acoustic D.I. Review

I needed something to keep beside me when switching between guitars that have different electronics in them. I use 3 main guitars with very different set ups. A Seagull S6 with an LR Baggs M1 Active, A Baden D style with Fishman Aura Elipse, and A Sunlite GWJ 2600 Jumbo Cutaway with their own peizo system with EQ and built in chorus.

Each of these guitars has it's own personality and needs different tweaks. The Para Acoustic warms them all up quite nicely. It did all I wanted it to and more. I also tried it for vocals into a Roland Mobile Cube for street performing and it smoothed out the signal and warmed it up beautifully. It enables the little Mobile Cube to handle more volume without breaking up. I love the Para and I am buying another one so I can use it for vocals and guitar throught the Mobile Cube on the street. This will give me a great street rig that all fits in a laptop bag.

The L.R. Baggs Para Acoustic D.I. is the goods.

Exactly what I needed. - Tico - Hanover, NH
I mounted a LR baggs passive pickup on a Martin DM guitar, but the output was so low it was really hard to pre-amplify it properly. Before switching to an active pick-up, I decided to try this DI. Not only it worked perfectly for me, adding a surprising amount of gain without noise and balancing the low frequencies and "airy" highs, but I tried it on a friend's fishman pre-amped Yamaha. The guitar acquired a much more present sound, and a fair "punch".

The device is sturdy, works perfectly with the phantom power (great feature, no need to use batteries if aren't scared of power shortage), and permits some extra filtering of the sound via the unbalanced output (I found myself enjoying the effects of my electric guitar, e.g. the line6 pod, when connected after this box). Simple to use, no complaints so far.

pricey, but is GREAT! - Jacquelyn M. Kiefer - Wenham, MA USA
It works amazingly for my violin. I'm still figuring out how to use all of the functions, but it's fun learning!
